In honor of breast cancer month I decided to make a outfit 🙂 .
Fortunately I have not lost anyone close due to cancer BUT it is still very important to me to honor those that have lost the fight to this terrible disease .
I try to wear something pink every Friday in the month of October to help bring Awareness so I decided I would add something to my wardrobe .
I decided on making this jumpsuit when I saw Vogue 1513 ( see below )
I fell in love with it because of the asymmetrical Draped Neck feature but I didn\’t really want to make a dress ! This dress featured a close fitted bodice so I decided on a pattern that I had recently used to make it into a jumper . It worked perfectly!!
The other pattern that I chose was McCall 7444
In order to make it work I used all the pieces of Vogue 1513 and just the Pants and midriff portions of McCall 7444. I found the \”waistline\” marking of each piece of Vogue 1513 and laid the midriff piece from McCall 7444 on top matching the waistline marking. I then marked just below were the midriff piece ended on the Vogue piece. I did every piece the same way and then cut . This allowed me to extend the bodice pieces to compensate for the midriff section of the pants that I would later connect from McCall 7444.
Once all the pieces were cut out I used both sets of instructions to construct the pieces separately.
I cut out the lining the same as the fabric pieces ( except for the drape piece ) and constructed them separately.
I connected the bodice and pants pieces once I had constructed them both and then I added the lining . I used the Vogue instructions to connect the lining to the bodice and the McCall instructions to connect the pants lining and finish the two pieces.
Alterations
- I added two inches to the Pants
- I added pink binding under the drape to give it a subtle hint of color
- I added a half inch to the top of the pants to give me more room in the crotch area
The jumpsuit turned out fabulous and I was so glad that they fit together so easily !
I\’m not a huge pink fan. Honestly October is just about the ONLY time I wear pink , so making a entirely pink outfit was NOT happening !! This seemed like a good compromise 🙂
By there being just a hint of pink it gives me the option of wearing this jumpsuit more often . WIN!
I really ….REALLY love this jumpsuit !!
I know the details of the construction might have been a little hard to understand but I\’m thinking of doing a tutorial for this one . What do you guys think ?
If your interested leave me a message in the comments and Ill try to get that going for you guys !
I hope you all like !!
Until Next Time !

Thank you for this! I have nervous about making anything that calls for a lining. I FINALLY conquered my fear of zippers. I will eventually face my fear. I love your posts. Thanks again. IG: @hoganswoman
