Checkered Sapporo Coat

I am so seriously excited about how this coat turned out that I can\’t contain myself !!.

I purchased this pattern over a month ago because I fell in love with all of the many versions of the Sapporo Coat by Papercut Pattern. My plan was to purchase the pattern, purchase my fabric, and then sew the coat ……BUT as life would have it, things didn\’t work out quite like that.

I purchased my fabric ( Addison Wool from Melanated Fabrics ) and then packed up to move to a new place so I didn’t get around to sewing it until a few weeks ago.

Let me just say that she was definitely worth the wait. Once I set out on making the coat I really took my time because I wanted to make sure that I lined the checkered print up properly.

I did the same for both the top and bottom front pieces. This proved to be a litttttttle more challenging than I had anticipated but I got it done!

For the back piece, I cut the three pieces out and sewed a muslin version. Once I had that completed then I use that piece to cut out my fabric piece. That way kept me from having to match the checkered print on the back.
The end result turned out better than I could have imagined!
The lining was a silky print that I purchased from Joann Fabrics.
I\’m glad I chose to go with this red because I love the color pop.
I love the shape and silhouette of the coat and it goes with just about any outfit.
I can dress it up or down.
I can\’t wait to make another one of these.
My mom keeps hinting that she wants one so I think ill make her one in solid color 🙂
Until Next Time XOXOXO

I love this! I saw it on IG and wanted to check out the details. Can I ask: did you end up going with your size based on the size chart? I have this pattern, but realized I picked a two way stretch knit, so I'm trying to figure out how much to size down. I planned to size down two sizes anyway based on my measurements.
