Linen Play ! – Lounge/Streetwear

Linen Play! ……… 

 is what I\’m calling the next few weeks! While going thru my stash recently I realized  I had collected quite a few linen pieces. I figure what better way to ring in spring than by sewing up a few linen pieces and making a mini capsule in the process!  Linen is such a versatile fabric, the different weights of linen allow it to be worn in just about any season.

The first pieces that I wanted to make were inspired from a look I had seen recently seen styled by J Bolin. If you don\’t follow him you should, the inspiration ALONE is reason enough!

This outfit had me! You mean to tell me  I can wear loungewear as streetwear?!?! …….

I\’m HERE for it! 

The thing I loved most about this outfit is the ability to dress it up or down.  I HAD TO MAKE IT!

Pattern Talk ……..

For the top, I went with View B


For the pant, I went with View A
 
Alterations
 Top 
 Added 4\” to the  Shirt Dress Hem … I wanted it to fall a little closer to the floor .
Omitted the pocket 
 Pant 
Added 2 inches to the hem 
Added my own \”scrap belt\”
I would say that Simplicity 8546 is more of an intermediate pattern because of the collar, cuff and button hold however, the instructions do a great job of walking you thru each step. Simplicity 8389 is definitely an \” easy to sew\” pattern. I finished this one in less than 2 hours, with a break here and there. I definitely plan on making more of  #8389. 
 

Fabric……

 I have been pleasantly surprised with Joann\’s linen choices this season! For this outfit, I found the perfect 100% Linen Black/White Stripe at Joann\’s.  This fabric feels like a dream!

LOVE !! the versatility of this outfit! I plan on wearing it so many different ways and showing you some of those ways right here!

Looks ……

Casual Chic – This is seriously my go-to look! Stylish✅Comfortable✅ and Versatility! ✅  . Yes Yes and YES! This look screams a night out for drinks with friends OR a date with the bad referee at your child\’s sports games!  LOL.

Business Casual  – Simply buttoning this shirt dress shifts it into \”Business Appropriate\”, yet still comfortable and chic.

Check back Friday for a few more looks from this fit ! Next week is more linen play! I LOVE this next piece and I think you will too. Ill give you an inside scoop… it\’s a linen print that has been circulating the sewing community  ….😆
